Situated within Geneva's Plainpalais neighbourhood, the Centre d'Art Contemporain (Contemporary Art Centre) is a leading association where local artists are able to express themselves. Exhibitions here change monthly, so these is always something fresh to experience. Often referred to as simply MAMCO, the related Musée d'Art Moderne et Contemporain (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) is another of Geneva's leading galleries and opened in the mid-1990s. In total, there are around 75 different exhibition spaces here, displays an eclectic mixture of paintings and sculptures.




Other of the biggest and most important art galleries in the whole of Geneva is without doubt the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire (Museum of Art and History), which is home to a truly outstanding and inspiration permanent collection. If you are lucky enough to visit this venue, which is located on the Rue Charles Galland in the Old City area of Geneva, look out for the fine art section and the pieces by world-famous artists, such as Cézanne and Renoir. There is even an onsite restaurant and cafe, complete with outside eating area.
