Switzerland is currently enjoying ever-increasing interest in its many unique golf courses, a number of which are close to Geneva and take full advantage of the city's adjacent lake shores and views. Also close to Geneva are several mountain golf courses and public driving ranges, where professionals, amateurs and even beginners are always made to feel extremely welcome.

The beautiful scenery surrounding the golf courses is without doubt the main attraction when playing a round in Switzerland and the surrounding area. Due to its location on the far western border of Switzerland, Geneva is also just a relatively short drive away from a number of outlying golf courses in France, where the Royal Evian Golf Club in Evian Les Bains is just 43 km / 27 miles away and home to the famous Evian Golf Cup championship.




At around 80 km / 50 miles from Lausanne and also in France, the Chamonix Golf Club is a little further away, but well worth the journey. Located in the scenic Chamonix valley, this historic course first opened in the mid-1930s with nine holes, although it was relaunched in the 1980s, when a further nine holes were added.

Two courses are available at the Maison Blanche Golf Club, which is just 18 km / 11 miles to the north-west of Geneva and within France's appealing Rhône-Alpes region. The 'Championship' course features 18 holes and many difficult challenges, while the shorter nine-hole 'Allondon' courses is more suitable for those less familiar with golf.

Most people holidaying in Geneva enjoy a round at the city's very own Geneva Golf Club, which remains open from March through December and features 18 holes, a golfing school, driving range, practice areas, restaurant and excellent views across the lake. This prestigious club accepts visitors on weekdays only and is easy to find, being just minutes away, next to the Swiss municipality of Cologny.
